Ed Sheeran thanked the world via Instagram writing, “Thank you world. First song to two billion streams on Spotify”.
With Spotify paying $0.0084 per stream, Sheeran along with his creative team pocketed about $16.8 million.
One Twitter user calculated how long it would take you to listen to Sheeran’s song two billion times back to back, and the answer is more than a lifetime as you would have had to have started listening in 12,758 BC.
