The Prince George Humane Society is a charity organization that works to provide a safe haven for abused, neglected, and abandoned animals in Northern British Columbia. In addition to the animal assistance, the humane society also serves to offer educational programs and services to encourage responsible pet ownership & ethical treatment of animals.
For years, the PG Humane society has worked to serve both the city of Prince George as well as both rural and Indigenous communities. They have worked to help control the overpopulation of feral populations, help facilitate in the return of lost animals, and worked to make sure adoptable animals in their care can find a forever home that fits the pet & adopter best.
In addition to the services they provide animals, the PG Humane Society also works to educate both adults & children. They offer programs like “Humane Education in the Classroom” where they help classes to learn the basics of proper pet care, a reading initiative called “Tales for Rescue Readers” where both kids and animals deal with their respective challenges. Children in the program learn empathy towards animals while practicing their reading skills in an encouraging environment, and the animals gain chances to socialize with a wide range of individuals.
More services for both youth, adults, and animals can be found on their website.
The Prince George Humane Society is located at 1839 1st Avenue, in Unit 11.
