The Open Door Café is a business located in the Hart of Prince George. Self-proclaimed “Coffee Nerds”, The Open Door strives to focus on two pillars: Quality and Community.
With a focus on supporting the area, the café sources their coffee from local roasters, their tea from a Shuswap business, baked goods from local bakers, and work with Farmhouse Catering to provide a breakfast & lunch menu.
Beginning in just May of 2021 with coffee-served-by-cart, The Open Door Café has only been open for about 10 months, but owner Katrina Wiebe has been taking the business step-by-step into the expansion of a full blown coffee shop. The business recently grew to their newest location of the “Coffee Can” in the Hart. While renovations occur in the actual storefront, the business continues to serve PG out of their retro-fitted shipping container – even offering a Drive-Thru for those on the go.
With a dedicated team & customer base, The Open Door hopes to continue their growth and allow more and more residents to discover what they have to offer. When renovations complete and the indoor seating area is open to the public, residents in the Hart will have a new location to grab a drink & snack while they enjoy the community Open Door has gained a reputation for. In the meantime, they continue to work out of the “Coffee Can” and still take their mobile cart out to some local events listed on their website.
Through their support of local vendors & donations to local silent auctions & fundraisers, The Open Door Café hopes to support the community just as well as the community has supported their team.
The Open Door Café is located at 6075 Monterey Road in PG’s Hart.
