Pacific Western Brewing is a brewery that can trace its roots all the way back to 1957 in Prince George. Serving beers, vodka sodas, and non-alcoholic options, PWB strives to support the community through more than just drinks. They also invest in the region – supporting in the people and community of Prince George.
The list of events supported by PWB is long, and includes the Canada Winter Games, a PG Ribfest, and of course, the Prince George summer music festival: Cariboo Rocks the North.
In addition to local events, the brewery also works to support the environment of the region. In 2017, tree planters helped to plant 100,000 seedlings after a large fire at Elephant Hill. This is just a branch of their Reforestation program. In 2021, PWB donated $50,000 towards reforestation with the BC Ministry of Forests & the “Forests for Tomorrow” program. PWB estimates it has helped over 350,000 seedlings be planted in BC in efforts to help the recovery of wildfires and invasive species.
Now in 2022, PWB is celebrating their 65th anniversary. In 65 years, the brewer has accumulated many awards for their brews, while also trailblazing along the way. An example is 1997, where Pacific Western Brewing received certification as the first organic lager beer in Canada. Other milestones include the first canned beer in BC, the first dry beer in Canada, and the first ice beer in Canada.
Locally, the brewery employs over four dozen people, and residents looking to grab a can of Cariboo, Pacific, or one of their other options can know that their PWB drink is full of hometown pride as well.
Pacific Western Brewing is located at 641 N Nechako Rd, Prince George
