PRINCE GEORGE—Originally an online business that has been featured internationally Modern Match is a Prince George business that has picked up a lot of buzz in it short life span.
“We were founded in 2019. I worked in sales and financing in Prince George for a decade, following in the steps of my dad who also worked in the industry but I was still on a journey to find my calling,” said Owner, Shauna Allan.
During that journey, Allan suffered the loss of her mother. Allan took that as a wake-up call to find more meaning in her life and find meaning she did. She designed a lingerie lineup and started working, but it was not without its hiccups.
“After I designed the lingerie line up we launched the official product in October 2020. It was the heat of covid, our product arrived and some of it with minor imperfections,” said Allan.
Something like this can be seen as a setback to some new business owners but Shauna did not let it get to her. In fact, she turned this bad into something good.
“As a brand that puts things into the world it is equally important for us to give back so we decided to partner with the Phoenix Transition Society and donate those perfectly good products to women that could use them the most,” said Allan.
Leading by example, Modern Match encouraged the community to do the same and the results were shocking
“It flourished. We put a call out to the community of Prince George to join this initiative with us. We were blown out of the water. We were so overwhelmed with the amount of donations. It was incredible,” said Allan
