PRINCE GEORGE—Coffee, cookies, and camping – everything you could want in an outdoor experience could be yours at Salmon Valley Campground.
Just 25 minutes north of Prince George this campground has been around for two decades but recently has come under new ownership that has been making some positive changes. The Salmon Valley Campground is a family-run spot with 16 lots with power and water.
“We’ve got this beautiful river that’s here next to us. You know, they come out, they get to know us as a family. We are very hands-on with the campground and really like to interact with our guests and just make it a really amazing experience for them,” said Bobby Carpino, Owner of Salmon Valley Campground.
The Carpinos purchased the campground about five years ago and have been putting all their love and hard work into turning the grounds into a destination.
“We just opened up our cafe. We’ll be offering ice cream and coffee treats. We’ve got baked goodies from local bakers, and we’ll eventually be running some workshops and some activities around there as well,” said Carpino.
The cafe is not the only good thing the family has brought to the campground. They also brought a charitable spirit.
“Yeah, so we have some campers that have camped with us since we’ve opened. Kyle and his family, the Garfield’s. And Kyle is autistic and has been raising money to be able to provide services and support to other children,” said Carpino.
What does it mean to the family to be nominated?
“It means it means a ton. It means that what we’re aiming to do, people are seeing that we’re not just here just as a business. I mean, any small business, I think it puts doors you can look at. And we have our hearts and soul into our business. And the fact that people are seeing that and recognizing that that means a lot because we’re working really, really hard to get that off for people,” said Carpino.
