PRINCE GEORGE—A toy store that has been around Prince George for a quarter century. Gingerbread Toys want to keep the creativity in kids’ play.
“We try and bring in toys where there are open-ended things that the child dictates how to play with it instead of the toy dictating how to play with it,” said Megan Swan, Manager at Gingerbread Toys.
From plushies to puzzles to prancing ponies Gingerbread tries to have something for everyone. They do that by bringing in toys that you may not find on the shelves of big box stores.
“This summer, one of the most popular things we have in the store is a line called Schleich. Their line of hand-painted animals and dinosaurs and that kind of thing. They’ve been super popular this summer,” said Swan.
Being around for so long means they have a unique relationship with some of their customers and their families that span generations.
“We have so many customers that have been with us for a long time. I mean, it started as, like, parents and kids, and now the kids are parents and the parents are grandparents,” said Swan.
Gingerbread also does what they can to give back to the community.
“We do gift wrapping by donation for the Child Development Center. They’re a charity that we like to support as much as we can,” said Swan.
