All I can remember from the start was my Mother in a panic, waking me up.
“Get up! You and your brother are late for school!!!”, she yelled.
In a flurry, we scarfed down breakfast, brushed out teeth, grabbed our school bags and ran out the door.
Because we were late, my Mom was going to drive us to school as she rushed to work.
It was when we bucked our seatbelts, I heard my Mom say out loud.
“Ohhhhh, I am going to make your Father pay for this!”, followed by laughter and relief.
On the steering wheel of the car was a note, left by my Dad. It read…
“All the clocks in the house are ahead by 2 hours. You aren’t late. The real time is on the VCR.
HAPPY APRIL FOOLS DAY!”
My Mother did get her revenge, sort of. My sister was born the following year…..on April 1st.
It took only 2 phone calls for my Dad to realize it wasn’t a prank. 🙂
