Effective at 12 p.m. PDT on Monday, Sept. 8, 2025, to prevent human-caused wildfires, Category 1 campfires will be prohibited across the Prince George Fire Centre. This prohibition applies to campfires as defined in the Wildfire Regulation. Category 2 and Category 3 open fires remain prohibited throughout the entire Prince George Fire Centre.
This prohibition covers all of the Prince George Fire Centre and will remain in effect until 12 p.m. PDT on Friday, Oct. 17, 2025, or until it is rescinded. Prohibitions apply to all public and private lands unless otherwise specified. A map outlining the area can be found here:
Here is what is permitted during a Category 1,2,3 fire bans.
Outdoor stoves or devices that burn wood are prohibited when a campfire prohibition is enacted unless they are vented through a structure that has a flue and is incorporated in a building. This includes devices such as grills, fire pits, pizza ovens, wood-fired hot tubs, saunas, smokers and related devices.
Outdoor stoves or devices are allowed if:
-They burn charcoal briquettes, liquid or gaseous fuel as a fuel source
-Has a flame height less than 15 cm
-Is certified by the Canadian Standards Association (CSA) or the Underwriters Laboratories of Canada (ULC).
