Caledonia Nordic Ski Club is a not-for-profit facility offering 55km of groomed trails for skiing & snowshoes, dog-friendly trails, and opportunities for biathlon & night skiing. A world class facility, CNSC has hosted events from the local level all the way up to international competition, hosting events like the 2015 Canada Winter Games & the 2019 World Para Nordic Ski Championships.
A part of the community for decades, Caledonia Nordic has also made sure to lay a trail for upcoming athletes in both high school & post-secondary. CNSC was the one to offer the first full-tuition scholarship for a Nordic athlete in Canada, offering a full tuition award through a partnership with UNBC. This award is offered to a student involved with the club that demonstrates excellence through continuing athletic achievements and/or giving back to the sport through leadership, volunteer coaching and building varsity involvement in cross country skiing or biathlon. Other scholarships are also offered to club members in SD57 looking to continue on to post-secondary education.
Caledonia Nordic also prides itself on its inclusivity, offering a few different ways for those with disabilities to participate in their winter sports. They offer discounted rates & specialized gear like sit skis for those in need of accessibility to take part in getting out on the trails.
In the warmer months, all CNSC’s trails are available to the public, with members of the community using the area for hiking, mountain biking, running, & training.
Caledonia Nordic Ski Club looks to continue it’s world-class legacy in the coming year, as in 2022 they will be hosting the Canadian National Championships for Biathlon, bringing another high-caliber event full of athletes to their facility here in the north.
