Wall to Wall is a second-hand hardware store and recycle centre for reusable building materials. Nails, light fixtures, air duct covers, cabinets, and all sorts of odds & ends of different sizes are available to residents looking to renovate on a budget thanks to Wall to Wall.
Christina Wall, owner of the second-hand hardware store, states “There was no place in our region that had a recycle centre for reusable construction materials. Instead of throwing things in the garbage, you can bring them here & someone else can use them”.
Wall to Wall looks to follow a new kind of “3 Rs”: renovate, recycle, and restore. Since opening, Christina Wall estimates she has saved over 25 tons of material from being discarded & thrown away in landfills. Wall explains that when businesses like The Northern and Castle shut down, they were faced with getting rid of product they were unable to move. Instead of letting it be thrown away, Wall to Wall took it in & helped to recycle or reuse it.
Saving the environment is just one of Christina & Wall to Wall’s goals however. She explains “there’s a lot of non-profit organizations, like the humane society and John Howard Society that need help with renovation costs, and I’m able to donate it to them or give them a really affordable cost”.
A one-person operation, Wall to Wall continues to work towards keeping landfills empty and providing the community an opportunity to grab building materials at a lower cost.
If you are looking for a way to give functional building materials another chance for use, consider dropping by Wall to Wall to get it recycled. While there, you might find an item to help you out with your own renovation project.
Wall to Wall is located in unit 12B of 1839 1st Avenue, across from the PG Humane Society.
