Since 2017, Tano Fuel has provided residents of Shelley & area a range of needed supplies & fuel for the community. Prior to the business opening, travel for necessities and gasoline was much higher, as residents would need to travel upwards of 20 minutes into Prince George to grab their supplies.
The gas bar & convenience store was more than just a business, however, as in addition to saving the community on travel time & resources, Tano Fuel allowed residents to purchase goods locally & within the area, offering a baseline to allow Lheidli T’enneh to move into other ventures to support the community.
Today, Tano Fuel has gained notice as being one of the most affordable fill-up locations in the area, as well as notoriety for their great service and support for the community.
Doug Olson, General Manager at Tano Fuel, says he wanted to create “something that had a really good, old fashioned quality”. Fuel, groceries, tobacco, and a concession stand are all offered over at Tano Fuel. Doug continues that “We have a really good old-fashioned burger, and I really like that we work with local beef…once we got the grass-fed beef into our burgers that’s when it really took off”.
With some residents now driving near 30 minutes to fill-up with Tano due to the loyalty the gas bar has cultivated through their stellar service, Olson explains the appreciation is a two-way street. In addition to the effort to offer the best prices for customers, Tano Fuel also supports various organizations like St. Vincent du Paul with frequent donations, and support any local events they can.
As Tano Fuel enters the first portion of 2022, the business looks to bounce back into fuel swing, and continue their avid support for their community & customers.
