PRINCE GEORGE- From a trailer to a sea container and now a full-blown shop, The Open Door Cafe on the Hart has grown substantially in just under two years in the community.
When visiting The Open Door Cafe, you can find all the coffee shop staples and even a few other unique items sourced from local businesses around the community.
“We get our baking from local bakers. We have our artisan shelves stocked full of stuff from local makers,” said Katrina Wiebe, the owner of The Open Door Cafe. “It’s very important that we, especially coming out of a pandemic, are continuing to feed into the local economy.”
The Cafe has always focused on the community, when Wiebe found out they had been nominated for Amplify Prince George she was in Aw.
“Honestly, community was one of the reasons I wanted to open this business. The Hart needed a place to come and gather. Prince George needs more places to have community. So to hear that the community is responding to that is cool,” said Wiebe.
