An 87-year-old New Yorker turned the tables on a scam in Gramercy Park, New York, last week. Larry Schwartz, a former Air Force paratrooper and amateur boxer, was on his way to the senior center when a woman tried to trick him into swapping his $48,000 Rolex for a diamond-encrusted fake. Schwartz quickly spotted the con, saying, “She thinks she’s got a sucker… and that’s when a bell went off. I’m saying, ‘This is a con.’” Instead of falling for it, he grabbed her arm, twisted it, and held on to both watches. The would-be thief stumbled back into a getaway car, while Schwartz walked away with his Rolex intact…….and a counterfeit souvenir.
Would be scammers get their bell rung
