Mom Rocks
My mom Phyllis is one of the most amazing people you could ever have the pleasure of meeting. Mom is my hero. For all of mine and my sisters lives she has been working day and night to give us what she thought we deserved.
There were times as a child when I was so mad because she couldn't make a school concert or a baseball tournament. Now as an adult I understand that she wasn't able to make every single special event because she wanted me to have the new cleats or a new baseball glove, a new bike or new clothes.
I now know where I get my work ethic. As a single parent myself I realize all she went through because she didn't have the one thing that I have on this journey..... A mother like her.
I remember when I was a teenager and a friend and I went on a trip and, as teenagers will sometimes do, we did not conserve our funds properly. We ended up running out of gas about an hour and a half from home. We were at a gas station but they were closed for the night. My mom grabbed a container full of gas and sent someone to us to get us home. All she said when I got back is "Well I guess you learned your lesson." and to this day I always make sure I don't run out of gas. It was these small lessons through out my life that made me be the person I am today.
Now, me being 38 years old my mom is my best friend and she is still there for me whenever I need her, whether it be a ear to listen or a shoulder to cry on or at times a big kick in the back side to get me back on track.
My mother has had so many losses in her life that being able to go to see Theresa might be able to give her some closure. And through all those losses she was still there for us.
