A Big Heart
My mom, Gina Pawluk, has the biggest heart of any woman I know. Before tonight I knew she was an amazing mom and friend (she has six kids between the ages of 5 and 25 and only about 5 really good friends) but I didn't realise how much she had wanted to see Theresa Caputo. She wanted to go with three of her friends in town but realised that she only had enough money to buy two tickets. Out of the four that she wanted to go (her, L1, L2, and S) she decided that L1 and L2 should go. Both of them had lost their fathers, one recently and one not so recently, and possibly being able to speak to them would be incredible for them. So mom bought tickets for L1 and L2 and chose not to buy tickets for her and S.
There are still more reasons that I think my mom deserves to win this contest. First off, she works very hard for her family. She has been a stay at home mom for the majority of the past ten years but when she went back to work she made sure that the first thing she bought was new shoes or clothes for the younger kids (the older kids can fend for themselves I guess). She stayed at a job she hated for a while just because she wanted to have the extra income for her kids while she could. She is the most strong, determined and committed woman I know.
Also, when she was 16 her grandmother passed away from cancer. My mom's grandmother was one of the biggest influences in her life and she still constantly talks about how great her grandma's baking was and what they would do when she would go visit. It was a horribly devastating time for my mom. I think that if my mom went and had the chance to even be in her presence to see that it was possible to communicate with her again it would be amazing.
And of course my mom loves Theresa Caputo and watching her show. When I asked her about it she was gushing about all the things that this Long Island Medium was able to do.
There are so many great stories I can tell about the support and love that my mom shows all of us every day. She is always very loving to anyone that is brought before with a need and is always willing to help and typically requires that she does it for nothing. (She is volunteering to paint our church's basement for free. It's a rather large basement.) I know my mom is deserving of this prize and I am happy that I entered just to give her the chance.
