She Deserves It.
If you ever met my mother you would see a woman who smiles like sunshine flows out of her eyes. What you wouldn't see is what she has gone through for her family to get that way.
I remember as a child my mom would be working almost everyday to keep a roof over our heads and food on the table, but she would also try to be at every special event, concert, baseball game, and bowling tournament.
As we grew up and left home, she said that now it was her turn. Her turn to be taken care of, her turn to do something for herself, her turn to sit and relax instead of running for her children all the time.
Little did she know things didn't slow down. Now the issues her children had just got more grown up. So now it wasn't "mom where's my shoes?" it was now "mom I lost my job and can't pay my rent" " or mom my son broke his glasses again and I can't afford a new pair" or "I have to go out of town for work can you watch the kids?" and all this while she still worked almost everyday.
Now that I am almost in my 40's and the youngest of the brood, and my children have reached that moving out stage, I now realize exactly what it took to put that smile on her face everyday. A strong backbone, an amazing work ethic and most importantly a heart of gold.
I have never seen a person (woman or man) do or try to do as much for their family. She deserves it.
